More Information About This Study:

We are seeking adults who use text messaging on android smart phones for a research study.  This research is being conducted by Professor Jeremy Birnholtz of the Northwestern University Department of Communication Studies and Professor Jeff Hancock of the Cornell University Department of Communication.

Participating in the study involves completing several online surveys and using a special text messaging app on your phone for one week. This text messaging app is modified to anonymously record your text messages and location in our secure database. In addition, you will be asked to answer questions about your text messages as you send them. We anticipate that participation in this study will take you approximately one hour over the course of the week, in addition to the time you would ordinarily spend text messaging. If you complete the study, you will be compensated with $20 Amazon.com gift certificate. You may also be invited to participate in a paid follow-up interview about the study.

If you are interested in participating in this study, please complete the short survey at http://goo.gl/EoR04. If we determine that you are eligible, we will email you with more information about how to get started in the study.

To be eligible for this study:

  • You must be an adult, at least 18 years of age.
  • You must own and use an Android smart phone.
